Cairndhu Golf Club is located in Ballygally, a quaint village in Larne, County Antrim of Northern Ireland. The golf course lies around 25 miles from the centre of Belfast.

The original course was designed and built by Major CA MacKenzie with its initial 9 holes in 1928, but was reconstructed by John Morrison to have 18 holes, opening in May 1958. Morrison’s parkland course now measures 5436m in length, and has a par of 70.

Green Fees at this club are very low in comparison to other courses of this standard and size, and it offers many discounts, including for students, juvenile players, rounds played at twilight and on weekdays.

The clubhouse is home to Skelly’s restaurant, which serves locally sourced fresh produce, offering both a Lite and an Express menu for before you play, or a complete dinner menu for when you finish your game.

This is also where you can find the well-stocked pro shop, as well as the onsite professional who will be more than willing to advise you not only on equipment but also your round at Cairndhu. Golf buggies are available to hire for your round from the pro shop, as long as prior notice is given.

Being located so close to the coast, strong winds can sometimes come into play during your round, making the course more challenging without stopping your round.

There are plenty of other activities available to those visiting Larne aside from golf. The area is an excellent location for those who enjoy outdoor activities such as cycling, horse riding, fishing and watersports, and also has plenty of places to spend the day, with a collection of museums, heritage sites and a luscious country park to offer.

Local to the golf course, there are a range of quality hotels to complete your stay, including Ballygally Castle, set within the original castle walls and said to be haunted in parts, with its atmospheric ghost room and dungeons.

i've not been golfing for long, so was in search of a course that would not be too difficult without being "easy". this course was recommended to me, and it was ideal. there are so many beautiful trees and shrubs around, it's impossible not to stop and just take in your surroundings for a minute or two. just note the restaurant isn't open for the same time as the course, so you might miss out on food if you're playing earlier on!

Some of the best greens ever at Cairndhu very fast and fiendishly difficult to read. The 2nd is the incredible photogenic P3 signature hole that you see on most photos which plays across toward Ballygally Head a three was a rare score when our group last played here. Strightforward and enjoyable course as long as the wind doesn’t blow too hard!
