Towards the South of County Tipperary  and the south of Ireland as a whole is the golf course at Cahir Park Golf Club. The course setting is truly unique and can be found on the River Suir. Surrounded by the imposing yet stunning mountains of Galtee, Comeragh and Knockmealdown this course is simply breath-taking and makes for a great golfing location.

The club here was originally formed in 1961 and the first nine holes were laid out by the late, great Eddie Hackett. It wasn’t until 1994 however that enough land was purchased to extend the course and Hackett was bought back in to design the full 18 holes which were opened for play in 1995. The new clubhouse here was opened in 2000.

Of a parkland style, this 18 hole course measures 5660 from the white tees and has a par of 71. Features here include a number of bunkers and water hazards as well as some mature trees. The course is sure to be an enjoyable challenge for all that play here no matter their level of skill or experience.

The facilities at this club are decent and are housed in the clubhouse. Here you will find a well-appointed professional golf shop, bar and restaurant area and locker room facilities complete with showers. Some equipment is also available to hire and there is a small practice area and driving range upon which players can practice and hone their skills.

Tee time availability for visitors here is generally good and tends to be better during the weekdays. Green fee rates are also decent here and offer good value for money. Both tee times and green fee rates vary depending upon the season so should be checked beforehand so as to avoid disappointment.

Thanks to its rather central southern location within Ireland, transport links by car are generally good here for visitors and members. Furthermore there are a number of accommodation options in and around the local area which should appeal to most needs, tastes and budgets.

We played this as part of the Suir Valley Golf Pass and found this to be very good value. The other courses being at Carrick-on-Suir and Clonmel.Cahir Park is a pleasant course with nine holes around a hill and nine flat holes along the Suir river. Unfortunately we played there on an wet day in early May, but the course was already in good condition. On the 8th you cross the river with what seems like an easy drive. However, if you want to cut the corner, make sure you also miss the pond behind the river. Als there a splendid views of the surrounding hills and the castle in Cahir. In the clubhouse you get good, friendly service and it has a good view of the 1st and 18th hole.
