Lying just outside of the area of Boystown in Ireland is the Blessington Lakes Golf Club and its golf course. Found in the heart of the countryside of County Wicklow the course offers a fantastic array of views of the nearby Blessington Lakes and the imposingly beautiful Wicklow Mountains. With Dublin less than 50 minutes away by car this makes for a perfect golfing location for both locals and visitors alike.
Originally known as Boystown Golf Club the club was first formed in 1997 by the McEvoy family. A year later the course was officially affiliated with the Golfing Union of Ireland and the name was changed. The club relies on the trade of both visitors and members and at present has over 300 members from across the local area.
It stretches over a distance of 6113 metres from the white tees and has a par of 72. Expect naturally rolling terrain for the base of this course which beautifully incorporates existing natural features such as mature trees and waterways. The course is an interesting mix of both natural and manmade features which combine to create a different round than most yet is still enjoyable if a little challenging. Great natural drainage also allows the course to remain open for most of the year which further adds to its popularity.
Facilities at Blessington Lakes are sparse however there is a clubhouse and small practice facility at the site for use by players. Tee times for visitors to the course have good general availability and vary somewhat throughout the year. Prime tee times are often taken up by members so prior booking is essential to ensure the best times possibly are secured for visitors. Green fee rates are very reasonable for this course and offer good value for money.
The club is well located near to the capital making it easy to access by car from the majority of the rest of Ireland. From the capital a number of further transport options are available for those who are visiting from further afield. There are a number of accommodation options in and around the local area that should appeal to most tastes.
