Nestled close to the border that Ireland shares with Northern Ireland is the Blacklion Golf Club and its associated golf course. Found within the county of Cavan the course is easily accessed from much of the north of Ireland as well as the nearby United Kingdom. The site lies near to the tranquil and serene Lough Macnean which can be found in two parts, the lower and the upper. The nearest major town is that of Enniskillen which lies just over the border in Northern Ireland.

The club here was established in 1962 and since then has become a popular course with locals and visitors alike. The course here has seen a number of upgrades and renovations over the years and continues to mature well.

The course is made up of 9 holes and is of a beautiful parkland style which has a distinctly classic feel. Measuring 2939 metres the course here has a par of 36. Features here include lots of mature trees and coppices as well as scenic, gently rolling terrain and the lake which comes in to play on no less than four holes. This course can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels and has its fair share of challenge too.

Facilities at the club are good and there are changing rooms at the disposal of players as well as trolleys to hire which should help facilitate play. Furthermore there is a bar area serving a good array of drinks and snacks and it is also home to a snooker table. Practice facilities are fair and there is a chipping and putting practice area upon which players can hone their skills.

With regards to tee time availability, it is generally good for visitors and throughout most of the season there is no need to pre book although it is recommended so as to avoid potential disappointment. Green fee rates are reasonable and there are a number of competitive membership options which should appeal to those wanting to make this a permanent feature on their golfing calendar.

Access to the club by road from much of the north of Ireland is good and Northern Ireland is also close. There are a number of accommodation options in and around the local area which should appeal to all tastes and budgets.
