Located in County Meath towards the east of Ireland is the Black Bush Golf Club and its golf course. Lying just over 30 kilometres to the northwest of Dublin, transport links to the capital city are good and the club is in a perfect location to welcome visitors from across the globe, particularly the nearby United Kingdom.

The golf club here was formed in the same year that the course opened, 1987. Since opening, the course has matured well and has welcomed players from across the globe including the Japanese ambassador My Hayashi and the well-known Spanish professional golfer Jose Maria Olazabal. All are sure to enjoy play here on this interesting course. It was designed by Bobby Browne and is set in a large estate.

The course is made up of 27 holes which are split into three loops of nine which are ingeniously named Course A, Course B and Course C. It is the choice of players which of the loops they choose to play however a popular combination of the A and B courses measures 6084 metres from the white tees and has a par of 73. All parts of this course are of a parkland style and the features are very traditional, bunkers are strategically placed and the lush greens are well maintained and lined with trees.

Facilities at the Black Bush Golf Club are good and there is everything here that modern players should need. There is a fully licensed bar offering a good array of refreshments and there is a separate restaurant area for players to enjoy. There are good changing and practice facilities and there is also a billiards room here. Furthermore there is a professional golf shop which claims to be the “best stocked” in Ireland and offers an extensive selection of products.

Tee time availability for visitors to this course is fair and there should be a time for everyone if booked in advance. The club has a strong member presence and there are a number of events and competitions held weekly meaning that availability can vary. Green fee rates here are very reasonable and offer good value for money.

Road links to the club from much of central and eastern Ireland is good and Northern Ireland is also close by. There are a good variety of accommodation options in the local area which should appeal to most tastes and budgets.
