Found near to the coast in the West of Ireland is the Bearna Golf Club and its associated golf course, situated in County Galway the city of Galway itself is about 9 km to the East of the site.  The club and course are located on some of the finest, although at times deserted, Irish land and can be found near to a number of natural lochs including Lough Inch and the nearby Moycullen Bogs are a Natural Heritage Area.

The construction of the course began in the autumn of 1991 however the course wasn’t officially opened until the spring of 1996. This was due to an array of influencing factors however mainly it was the land itself that proved tricky to work with, however after years of hard graft by both the designer R.J. Browne and the club director Pat Donnellan the course was finally opened and was well worth the wait.

Of a moorland style the course measures 5255 metres from the yellow tees and has a par of 72. The location of the course was bought into question originally due to its somewhat bleak nature however the work put in to the construction of this course has transformed it into a spectacular specimen of a golf course. Features here include spacious fairways and elevated tees and water comes into play on no fewer than 13 of the 18 holes here.

Facilities at this club are generous and relatively modern, the new clubhouse was opened in 1998 and has views of an astounding 16 of the greens. Here you will find a bar and restaurant as well as locker facilities complete with shower and towel facilities. There is also a well-appointed professional golf shop offering an array of merchandise and apparel to members and visitors.

Green fee rates for visitors to this course are very reasonable and offer good value for money when you consider the quality of the course and its facilities. Tee times for visitors to this course have exceptional availability throughout both the weekdays and the weekend and visitors here should have no problem in finding a suitable time for their rounds.

Getting to the course from the majority of the North and Western areas of Ireland is quite straightforward and nearby Galway has a number of links to other areas within the country. Accommodation options in and around the area and particularly in the city of Galway itself are numerous and there should be something to suit all tastes from budget hotels to chic boutiques.
