Found near to the border between the counties of Wicklow and Kildare in Ireland is the Baltinglass Golf Club and its golf course. Lying in Wicklow to the East of Ireland the course here is nestled in some prime Irish countryside yet it is still easy to access nearby bustling towns and cities thanks to its proximity to the main Waterford to Dublin road route.

The club here has a rich and interesting history and was first formed in 1927. The club acquired some land and the construction of the course began with a nine hole layout which was designed by Lionel Hewson. In the early 1950’s the club faced some great financial difficulties which resulted in the return of some of the land however in the 1960s and 1970’s the popularity of the sport grew and things improved for the club. The course was finally extended to the full 18 holes in the late 90’s and early 00’s and the design was drawn up by the well-known Eddie Connaughton

Measuring just short of 5560 metres from the yellow tees this course has a par of 71. Features here are typical of a parkland course and hazards include a lot of mature trees as well as well manicured greens and fairways. Players of most levels are sure to enjoy play here and it should appeal to most types of golfer.

Facilities at Baltinglass are fair and players are sure to find the basics that they will need here. With regards to tee time availability for visitors it is good overall and there should be something to suit all. Weekend availability is restricted however and there are a number of occasions where the course is reserved for other uses so prior booking is highly recommended so as to avoid disappointment. Green fee rates here are very reasonable and offer good value for money. A number of discounts and special offers are also available for play here throughout the year and green fees are subject to change with the seasons.

The club is relatively well connected by road to much of the rest of Ireland and visitors should have no problem in getting here from the rest of Ireland as well as the nearby United Kingdom. Accommodation options in and around the local area are fair and there is sure to be something to suit all tastes and budgets.
