Ballyliffin Golf Club is home to two championship links golf courses, the newest of which is the Glashedy Links course. The club is less than an hour away from Derry, or around two hours drive from Belfast, and is the most northerly golf club in Ireland.
Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock began work on the new course for Ballyliffin Golf Club in 1992, after a development council was formed to relieve the old course from being damaged by overplaying.
The Glashedy course finds its 18 holes entwined with the Old Links course through the dunes overlooking the spectacular landscapes of Pollan Bay. The course has a par of 72, and its own practice area, putting green and driving range.
Since it’s opening, the club has held various Championship tournaments including Ireland’s inter-provincial championship and the European tour, and is expected to host many more in the coming years.
Green fees for this club are slightly higher than the Old Links course, however there are various methods of receiving discounts, for example booking early bird or twilight tee times, or booking in groups. The club also offers lower rates of play for the winter season.
The club offers a variety of types of golf tuition, tailoring to your personal needs to provide you with the skills you need to conquer its two championship courses. The club also offers an equipment customising service which redesigns your equipment to best suit you.
Golf buggies, trollies and clubs are all available to rent from the club, provided they are requested in advance to your round.
On the top floor of the clubhouse you will find the Links bar and restaurant, which provides stunning panoramic views of the golf course. Here you will also find the pro shop and the locker facilities available to all players.
The weather in Ballyliffin is usually dry but cloudy, with only short intervals of rain, offering great golfing conditions throughout the year. The village of Ballyliffin offers a range of local hotels, which cater to every taste and budget.

One of the best10/04/2015this review is the subjective opinion of a GOLFBOO user and not of GOLFBOO S.LI thought i should write a review as it is too good not to... Before playing the course, i was quite intimidated by the length of the course. I'm am not the shortest hitter by any mean (normally the longest out of my four balls) but i have never really played on a course of this length before, with my home club measuring just under 6,000 yards. Having said all that, as soon as i started playing, i didn't even think about the length, i just enjoyed myself throughout. The sheer condition of the course amazed me, always playing from a decent lie (if in the fairway). It was also my first time on a links course as well. You're not just playing yourself, you're playing against the conditons. I absolutely loved the test!!! Greens were inn fantastic condition and the layout was devised well.. As for the hospitality i recieved, i can honestly say it couldnt be better. Some of the friendliest people i ever met.. Highly recommend it to everyone!!!!!
Average rating obtained byThis rating for Ballyliffin Golf Club. is the average of 15 ratings obtained from www.top100golfcourses.co.ukVery good golf course. Played the Old in the morning and Glashedy in the afternoon. This is a brilliant 36 holes of golf. Considering the courses occupy the same land, they are very different in topography and conditioning. I would urge golfers to play both courses at this top resort.
Average rating obtained byThis rating for Ballyliffin Golf Club. is the average of 1 ratings obtained from www.todaysgolfer.co.ukThis is a must play course for golfers of all levels. You are welcomed with open arms from the moment you arrive. Also play the classic links of the Old Course and enjoy terrain like you have never seen before! I have played the best courses in a Scotland and Ireland and the Glashedy rates as my clear favourite. Enjoy!
