Located in the East of Ireland near to the coast created by the Irish Sea is the golf course at Balcarrick Golf Club. To the North of the capital, Dublin, the course is found near to the small town of Donabate. The nearby area is home to numerous golf courses including those at The Island Golf Club and Beaverstown Golf Club making this an excellent location for those wanting to sample a number of courses and enjoy a golfing getaway. Coupled with the proximity to Dublin this is a great option for most.
The origins of the club are very interesting and colourful however the club as we know it today was formed in 1992. Originally consisting of just 9 holes the course was extended to an 18-hole layout in 1995 by Barry Langan, the clubhouse was opened back in 1997 also. More recently in 2007 the course was redesigned and changed by designer Roger Jones but since then has remained relatively untouched.
Measuring just shy of 5670 metres from the yellow tees the course has a par of 73. Its parkland style has a number of features to challenge and entertain players of varying strengths. Water hazards and bunkers as well as mature trees and woodland have been strategically placed and incorporated throughout the course to create the perfect amount of challenge.
Facilities at this club are fair and include a sizeable restaurant and bar facility which serve a great array of refreshments which players can enjoy. There is also a professional golf shop and a PGA professional offering coaching, tuition and lessons to players by prior arrangement. Practice facilities include a putting green and there are well-appointed changing and shower facilities on site also.
Tee times for visitors to this course are reasonable although there is a good member presence and they tend to secure the best times however there should be a time to suit all and all visitors are warmly welcomed. Green fee rates are very good here and offer good value for money, there are usually a number of discounts and offers available to play here. The club also hosts a number of open competitions throughout the year which are open to all.
Due to the proximity of the club with Dublin (the capital is around 22 km away) it has good road links to the rest of the country and rail and air links from Dublin are plentiful. There are a number of accommodation options in and around the local area which should appeal to most visitors however, if they do not suit there will definitely be somewhere in the capital for all to stay.

Average rating obtained byThis rating for Balcarrick Golf Club. is the average of 1 ratings obtained from www.ukgolfguide.comRe-developed by Roger Jones in 2007, this course has a distinct estuarial style. Water features prominantly on many holes and has attracted an abundance of wild life These features have been re-modelled to reward good shots and punish only very errant ones. The superb greens are amongst the best you will find anywhere and many are elevated. The previously very open aspect has now been replaced with expertly positioned mounding, shrubbery and meadowgrass areas to clearly separate all fairways. There are no hidden agendas as all bunkers are in view whether you are teeing off or approaching greens. An altogether enjoyable experience that is great value for money and well worth a visit.
