Found in the middle eastern band of Ireland is the golf course at the Athy Golf Club. Nestled in County Kildare the course is only a short distance away from the market town from which it takes its name. By population it is the 50th largest town within the Republic of Ireland meaning that amenities here are good. The capital city of Dublin is around 70 km to the northeast of the site meaning that transport links in and around the town are also generally good.

The club here was first formed in 1906 and has since celebrated its centenary. For the majority of its life the club played on a basic nine hole layout and it was not until 1993 that the course was extended to the full 18 hole layout which has matured well ever since.

Measuring just over 5670 metres from the white tees this is a par 70 course with a good variety of features to test and challenge golfers. Greens here are meticulously maintained and hazards here are diverse and plentiful so as to keep players entertained. The course can be enjoyed by golfers of all standards and all are sure to have a good day when playing here.

The club has good overall facilities and the clubhouse boasts a bar and restaurant area offering a variety of refreshments for players to enjoy after their rounds. There is also a well-stocked pro shop offering a variety of equipment and apparel and in terms of practice facilities there is a ten bay driving range for players to use.

Green fee rates here are very reasonable and offer good value for money. With regards to tee times, athough the majority of players here tend to be members, visitors are warmly welcomed to take part in one of the many open competitions that the club hosts throughout the year.

Getting to the club from much of the rest of Ireland is relatively straightforward thanks to its central location and there are a number of accommodation options in and around the local area which should appeal to most tastes and budgets.
