Tucked away just 10 minutes from the province capital Valladolid you will find the exquisite golf course called Aldeamayor Golf Club. Besides being a beauty to look at, it is a course that can offer you everything you might desire as either a professional or amateur golf player.
The golf club was started in 2001 and both golf courses finished in 2002. Real estate development company Metrovacesa SA is the owners of the golf club and also the surrounding houses and sales plots.
The club has an active following of golfers that play club tournaments and have a much desired Hall of Fame.
Both courses are designed by Juan Ligués and the topography shows that even though the ground is mostly flat you can immediately notice that this is a highly technical design.
The practice course is a simple par 27, 9-hole that is 1,028 metres long. The greens are small and the obstacles are plentiful, it is a great course to really get that important short game practice.
Each hole varies in size and you can expect many cleverly placed hazards to really test your skills.
The 18-hole course is a par 70 that is 5,676 metres long. The course is very open and it is manageable to go without buggy. If you played the short course before this one you will be delighted because of the wide-ranged greens however you need to be alarmed because these greens are noticeably more difficult to read.
There are two par 5 “dog legs” that force you to plan every shot in advance, be sure to study the golf course map before playing.
The closest airport is Aeropuerto de Villadolid with a 30 min drive to the golf course; however you might need to land in Madrid’s airport which will take you approx. 2 hours.
The club offers many different facilities including a pro shop, bar, restaurant, cafeteria, golf classes, rentals for clubs, trolleys and buggys. There is quite the impressive driving range that is over 400 metres long with natural grass to play from, you will also find training areas with putting and bunkers.
Make sure you check tee times before going to the course, there might be an ongoing tournament.
The short course has a much cheaper green fee and can be a good alternative if you don’t have all the time or energy.
