Aguilon Golf is a golf course, located in  Almería and is one of the top golf courses in the area following the coastline of San Juan de los Terreros. The Aguilon Mountains serve as a brilliant backdrop to the beautiful scenery. The impressive natural ravines and quantity of bunkers make the course a really eye-catching proposition!

Designed by  Stirling & Martin, the 18-hole course was opened in March 2008, and remains one of the famous golf courses in the country.

From the back tees, the course plays 6074 metres and resembles a Californian style of design. Considering the vast amount of bunkers scattered along the course you should be prepared to land in the hazards at least a couple of times. Keep an eye out for the 14th – it’s 454 metres long with a well-placed green on top of a wall that is a real challenge to overcome.

With a slope rating of 135, the Aguilon Golf course can be difficult for a high handicapper. However with smart play and careful planning the course can be a great experience for any golfer.

The golf course is accompanied by:

  • A practice green
  • Golf shop
  • Buggy and club rental
  • Clubhouse
  • Restaurant

It is recommended to rent a buggy because of the varying elevations and long distances.

Almería Airport is around 85km from the course, and normally takes about 45 minutes by car. Hotel Puerto Juan Montiel & Spa is located nearby, a 4* hotel with rave reviews.

You can get there from the AP-7; take the exit for Pulpi, in the direction of Terreros, on the A-350. After 10 km you will pass through Jaravía, at the first roundabout turn right and you will enter Urbanisation Mundo Aguilón. From the coast, on the M-332, from Vera to Águilas, take the exit for Pulpí. After 1km, at the first roundabout, turn left into Urbanisation Mundo Aguilón.

video of the golf course was uploaded by its director which showcases all the finer details of the course.

Green fee rates vary but are much cheaper during the summer. Tee times are every 10 minutes and availability is generally good, but it is important to make bookings to avoid disappointment of any kind.

    An amazing trip!

With there being so many golf courses in the Costa del Sol, we didn't know how we were going to decide which one to play on, but in the end we went with Aguilón Golf, which was definitely a great decision. Me and my old University mates decided to go for a golf week and this club definitely made it a trip to remember. The course was amazing to play on and very well kept with the running fairways causing a few of us a bit of trouble, however it was still very enjoyable never the less. We then made our way into the clubhouse for some food which tasted great and the staff were very polite. I'd love to go back and to be honest, I wouldn't have left if I didn't have to get back to work!
