One of two golf courses in the local area with similar names Adare Manor Golf Club is the home to the older of the two. In County Limerick near to the village of Adare in the South West of Ireland is where you will find this historic course and club. Surrounded by historical ruins and enchanting castles the backdrop of this course is truly unique and the ancient Desmond Castle and Franciscan Abbey are sure to add an extra dimension to your play here.
The club was founded in 1900 and the original nine holes were laid out by Ben Sayers on the Earl of Dunraven’s Estate. It was not until 1932 that the club became affiliated with the Golfing Union of Ireland however. In more recent times the course was extended to the full 18-hole layout that we can see today and was redesigned by the famed Eddie Hackett.
Measuring just short of 5040 metres from the yellow tees this course has a fair par of 69 and is a little shorter than most. Of a traditional parkland style the course has a number of features to test and entertain players of varying strengths. Bunkers are scattered well throughout the course and mature trees add further obstacle for some.
The facilities at this club are housed in the classic, renovated clubhouse and include a well-stocked bar as well as a restaurant. There is also a professional shop selling an array of golfing products. Both male and female shower and locker facilities are also available here and the club is very proud of its friendly and welcoming reputation that it has established over the years.
Green fee rates for this course are very reasonable considering its quality, history and location and it is generally a good value for money option. Tee times for visitors to this course are good and are well spread throughout the course of the day however weekend availability is rather restricted as this tends to be reserved for members.
From the rest of the South of Ireland accessing the club is fairly easy and it is only around 16 km away from the sizeable city of Limerick which has a number of more established transport links. Accommodation options in and around the area are generous and the nearby unaffiliated Adare Manor and Golf Resort boasts a hotel which is always a popular option with visitors here.

unforgettable experience!10/02/2015this review is the subjective opinion of a GOLFBOO user and not of GOLFBOO S.LAdare Manor golf club is one of a kind, from the magnificent scenery to the challenging layout, my golf experience was spectacular! The holes are varied and comprise of surprising features such as the old bridges that connect the numerous rivers throughout the course. The clubhouse has kept its old and traditional Irish character but at the same time is very comfortable. I rate this golf club as one of my favourites - and highly recommended it to all golf lovers
